Power Systems

Hubbell Ohio/ Brass (OB), founded October 17, 1888, has rich tradition as a company based on innovation, continuing to thrive on developing new technologies and state-of-the-art power products, setting new standards with new materials and products for transmission and distribution (T&D) and improving and expanding line of polymer insulators and surge arresters products.

In 1934, OB built a new facility equipped with world-class lightning impulse generator capable of producing a 3-million volt impulse of phenomenally steep wave, and had run full-scale tests on 500- and 765-KV transmission in 1963. Today, the Research Center is in Wadsworth, Ohio.

OB introduced the first U.S. made polymer-housed insulator in 1986 and continues to further expand the polymer arrester product line. The metal oxide varistor block (MOV) plant in Wadsworth had a multimillion expansion emphasizing on material development, process engineering and control coupled with a strong quality assurance program to yield high quality, cost competitive MOV elements.

.....OB combines the advantages of polymer housing and MOV valve blocks
.....to offer full-line arresters for distribution, substation and transmission applications:

Distribution PDV-100 heavy-duty arrester is for overhead equipment protection

Distribution PDV-65 arresters is cost effective with slightly low capabilities
Riser Pole (PVR) targets cable application with low discharge voltage

Substation class polymer PVN arrester are suitable for applications up through 161KV

PVI Intermediate class arresters are suitable for applications up through 138KV

The porcelain station class arresters VN and VL are up to 312KV

Hi*Lite transmission, suspensions and post insulators
Veri*Lite transmission insulators

Veri*Lite Distribution insulators
